Comme gardien de but des Victorias de Montréal, il a remporté la Coupe Stanley pendant trois années consécutives de 1895 à 1898. Il était un fondateur du Club de polo de Back River et a remporté la Coupe Grenfell en 1911, 1914, 1920-1924 et 1926-1928. En 1915, MacDougall s’est enrôlé pour la guerre et au sein de la troisième division canadienne, il a participé au combat en France et est retourné au pays avec le grade de major.
Il est mort en 1947 et en 1976, il a été intronisé au Panthéon des sports canadiens.
As the goalie for the Montreal Victorias, he won the Stanley Cup for three consecutive years from 1895 to 1898. He was a founder of the Back River Polo Club and won the Grenfell Cup in 1911,1914, 1920-1924, and 1926-1928. In 1915 MacDougall enlisted for war and as part of the Third Canadian Division, he saw action in France and returned home with the rank of major.
He died in 1947 and was inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1976.
