Ted Wagstaff

President, North45 Advisory Services Inc.

Ted Wagstaff is an investor and advisory board member whose work has had an impact in Canada and around the world. A native of Montreal with over 35 years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, raising capital and corporate sponsorship, Ted is known for his unique ability to spot opportunities where others see none – engineering high-impact collaborations that drive results and impact.

From large multinationals to emerging startups, Ted has helped organizations by brokering over $350 million in transactions. His impressive portfolio of investments include the Ottawa Senators, the Ottawa Rapid FC, Canadian AgTech leader Growcer and the new leader in the Canadian fitness and wellness industry, Altea.

Sport has played a prominent role in Ted’s personal and professional life. From his first job out of school (working on the mission staff of Team Canada at the first Jeux de la francophonie in Casablanca), Ted’s career in sport has included work with Sport Canada, Athletics Canada, the PGA Tour, the sports marketing firm Landmark Sports Group, the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, the Canada Games Council and the Canadian Sport Awards.

Ted, and the company he leads, North45 Advisory Services, focuses on five core industry sectors – food security, water, clean energy, housing and health & wellness.

His approach to work is the same as his approach in life – always building, always elevating, and always leading with purpose.

“Sport is a powerful force. It can inspire a young person to pursue a dream. It can fuel a healthier physical, mental, and emotional lifestyle. It can be the foundation around which communities are built. Indeed, it can galvanize an entire country—collectively standing still, waiting for the winning goal.

From school sports teams to memories as a fan of Graham Smith, Dave Steen, Silken Laumann, and Donovan Bailey, to my first job with the Team Canada mission staff at the inaugural Jeux de la Francophonie (Casablanca 1989), sport has played a pivotal role in my life. That’s why I’m honoured to serve as Co-Chair of the 2025 Order of Sport Awards. We rightly celebrate the accomplishments of great athletes and builders of sport. This year’s recipients deserve our admiration not only for what they achieved on the field or behind the bench, but for how they’ve made our world a better place.”

A longtime advocate for the power of sport to inspire change, she is proud to serve as Co-Chair of the 69th Annual Order of Sport Awards, a national celebration that honours Athletes and sport Builders whose influence reaches well beyond the field of play.

“I’m honoured to serve as Co-Chair of the Order of Sport Awards because I deeply believe in the transformative power of sport. Sport builds stronger communities and brings people together to cheer for something greater than themselves—but its most lasting impact is on our children and youth. Sport teaches resilience, teamwork, and confidence. It offers an outlet for stress, a path to better health, and a sense of belonging that can change a young person’s life. I believe every child deserves the chance to experience these benefits, and that’s why I’m proud to champion this cause.”
